In the Japanese version of the Sendai Mediatheque official website, I stumbled upon a section called "About barrier-free". The section clearly addressed the beliefs of Toyō Itō, stating that "freedom from all barriers" is one of the main philosophies at Sendai Mediatheque. I found it important to note that the architect designed this building with that notion, not knowing it would impact the workers and users as well. The foundation of the philosophy began with architecture, but blossomed into deeply rooted morals of the devout visitors and workers of Sendai Mediatheque.
